Grandparent Rights

At the Willingham Law Firm, we advocate for grandparents, aunts, uncles and siblings in issues involving custody and visitation. Nowadays families come in all shapes and sizes.  In situations where parental custody is not in the best interests of a child, a grandparent (or certain other relatives) may be able to seek visitation rights or even custody of the child.

The law recently changed, expanding the legal right to visitation for immediate family members who have been involved in the raising of a child.

Grandparents, aunts, uncles and siblings have the right to seek custody and visitation if it can be shown that to not allow contact would harm the child.

The law involving custody in this area is very specific, so it is important you seek assistance from a lawyer who is familiar with this area of law.
